ShopRite corralled numerous manufacturers to provide its typical array of exclusive holiday promotions.Among the seasonal activity, ShopRite teamed with:Procter & Gamble to promise $5 off a $25 purchase of beauty products in a Nov. 3 circular feature using the manufacturer's "Secrets of the Season" slogan. (See "P&G brandSaver: November 2013" in Related Articles.)P&G again to present a pair of themed checkout offers in the Nov. 24 tab: $3 off the purchase of three items from Prilosec OTC, Metamucil or Pepto-Bismol; and $5 off with a three-SKU CoverGirl buy. The latter feature borrowed graphics from P&G's Dec. 1 brandSaver event. (See "P&G brandSaver: Dec. 2013.")Campbell Soup Co. and Reckitt Benckiser to promise $5 off the purchase of Campbell’s' "green bean casserole" cookware with purchase of $10 worth of SKUs needed to make the holiday favorite from the two manufacturers or ShopRite's store brand. A Nov. 10 feature contained a QR code linking to Campbell's' recipe on shoprite.com. (See Related Promotional Activity.)SC Johnson to promise $3 off a future receipt with purchase of five seasonal products from Glad or Ziploc.Coca-Cola Co. to again leverage the manufacturer's sponsorship of the "Radio City Christmas Spectacular" in New York (see "ShopRite Has …"), offering one free ticket with purchase of three. Consumers entered the code “ShopRite” to redeem the offer on the event’s website. Coke’s Dasani to dangle discounts to a live Christmas show at Sesame Place in Langhorne, PA. Consumers likewise entered "ShopRite" on the theme park's website to redeem the offer. A promotional page on shoprite.com touted both offers, which were valid through Dec. 30. A circular feature supported the first incentive. Hallmark Cards to promise $2 off a future receipt with a cumulative purchase of $10 in greeting cards from Nov. 24 to Dec. 28. Features in multiple circulars plugged the offer.Unilever to dangle $5 off a future receipt with purchase of $15 worth of products in separate deals for: personal care brands on Nov. 17, food brands on Dec. 15, and personal care brands again on Dec. 22. Each deal earned a feature.Kraft Foods Group to pitch $10 off an order from the ShopRite from Home store delivery service (see “ShopRite Acquires …”) with $20 purchase of eligible SKUs from brands including MiO, Capri Sun, Planters, Oscar Mayer, Kraft and Velveeta. Support included a Dec. 15 feature and a home-page carousel ad. (ShopRite also added a seasonal spin to other weekly ShopRite from Home incentives that touted the service as a holiday season time-saver.) Elsewhere, the retailer distributed its third annual “Holiday Toy & Gift Guide,” a 24-page digital publication presenting deals on non-endemic seasonal merchandise that were valid from Nov. 17 through Dec. 28. Products included popular toys from Mattel Inc., MGA Entertainment, Lego Group, Hasbro Inc. and Mega Brands, along with teddy bears and toy trucks bearing the ShopRite logo. Three pages spotlighted “Great Gifts for the Cook,” a new offering of kitchen appliances and cookware from brands including Hamilton Beach’s Proctor Silex and World Kitchen’s Pyrex.One page in the guide was devoted to holiday ornaments from Hallmark Cards, while two others showcased tape from 3M’s Scotch, batteries from Energizer Holdings and seasonal decor from the retailer’s private label. The guide also promoted ShopRite from Home, the retailer's “Digital Coupon Center,” mobile application and catering services, and third-party gift cards. A Nov. 29 Facebook update touted the guide.Meanwhile, circular features beginning Nov. 3 presented deals on "Holiday Dinner Favorites" and "Baking Essentials." Full pages in several tabs were dedicated to toys, appliances and other gift options. Footers in the tabs throughout the season presented various deals on third-party gift cards; a floorstand promised $5 off multi-pack purchases from Dec. 8-24.ShopRite placed its standard holiday emphasis on store catering services, beginning with a home page carousel ad promising “Holiday Entertaining Made Easy” that began running in early November. The ad and a Nov. 15 email linked to shoprite.com's catering area.In December, the retailer joined with Bell-Carter Foods’ Lindsay olives to stage a “Holiday Entertaining" sweepstakes. Running Dec. 8 through Jan. 9 on the retailer's Facebook page, the sweeps awards a grand-prize $500 in store gift cards and five weekly prizes of $300 worth of cards. The promotion's entry page bills the prizes as “perfect for online catering” and links to the ordering page on shoprite.com. Support has included multiple Facebook updates. Santa Monica, CA-based Matrixx Pictures handles.In other activity, a feature in the Dec. 15 circular promoted a "Holiday Celebrations" brochure of party planning ideas and catered food options that was distributed in-store and online. Brands providing seasonal displays included Campbell's Pepperidge Farm, Kellogg Co.’s Keebler, Mondelez International’s Triscuit, Snyder's-Lance Inc.’s Archway, and Pfizer Consumer Healthcare’s ChapStick.
