WWE Lays the 'Smackdown'

THQ Games recently launched a campaign to promote its next-generation World Wrestling Entertainment video game, partnering with retailers for purchase incentives backed by P-O-P displays.Designed for Sony PlayStation and Microsoft Xbox systems, WWE Smackdown! vs. Raw 2007 debuted in stores on Nov. 14. Bearing images of WWE wrestlers in action, P-O-P materials included pallet displays at Best Buy and Wal-Mart, shippers at Kmart and f.y.e., and shelf trays at Toys "R" Us.THQ also collaborated with retailers for exclusive incentives. Promotions included:Best Buy offered a free 2007 WWE calendar and coupons for other THQ games. &nbspCircuit City packaged a bonus WWE DVD.&nbspf.y.e. dangled a free WWE: Survivor Series DVD.&nbspHollywood Video and Game Crazy offered a mini-art book in-pack.&nbspTarget offered a bonus pack of Smackdown! vs. Raw trading cards. &nbspToys "R" Us dangled a free WWE DVD Board Game by Specialty Board Games.&nbspWal-Mart offered a mini-strategy guide in-pack.The 2007 game updates the 2006 version with new graphics and features. Los Angeles-based THQ Inc. develops and publishes entertainment software, including gaming systems, personal devices and computer products. The company collaborated with toy maker and WWE licensee JAKKS Pacific Inc. to develop and market the WWE game.
