Macy’s continued its partnership with nonprofit Reading Is Fundamental in a seasonal “Be Book Smart” campaign.From June 22 through July 31, the partners again offered coupons providing $10 off a $50 purchase to shoppers who donated $3 to RIF. A sweepstakes overlay on Facebook had fans sharing the campaign to vie for a weekly $500 store gift card.Macy’s supported on its website, via social media activity and with reading circles held in June at select stores. The events were hosted by local National Football League players such as Patrick Chung of the New England Patriots and Joel Dressen of the Denver Broncos.The partners also staged their seventh annual spelling bees for kids aged eight to 11 at 27 stores from Aug. 25 through Sept. 22. One regional winner from each event got an iPad, $100 store card, "scholarship" from Kaplan Tutoring and an online gift card from book publisher Scholastic Corp..
