H-E-B teamed with ConAgra Foods last month to host the third annual “Meal Maker Challenge” sweepstakes as part of the retailer's back-to-school marketing.The partners staged the sweeps online from Aug. 8 to Sept. 10 at heb.com/meals, enlisting 10 Texas bloggers to help with the proceedings. Each blogger received a dedicated page on the microsite to post family-friendly recipes incorporating a featured ingredient of the week — ConAgra’s Chef Boyardee beef ravioli, in one example. Registered visitors voted for their favorite recipe to enter the sweeps, which awarded a grand-prize $1,000 H-E-B gift card. Pleasant Ridge, MI-based ePrize handled.Site visitors also were directed to stores to find a “money-saving” coupon for the weekly featured ingredient. During the week of Sept. 1, the coupon delivered a free four-pack of ConAgra's Snack Pack pudding with purchase of Chef Boyardee canned pasta. The co-branded microsite also contained an informational video.Each blogger received three ConAgra-branded gift bags (valued at $50) to host giveaways on their own websites. The bags were filled with products from Orville Redenbacher's, Hunt's, Peter Pan, Healthy Choice and Ro-Tel, among other ConAgra brands, as well as branded oven mitts and lunch boxes depicting the retailer's H-E-Buddy mascot.
