Hong Kong Mall Debuts Sprawling Art Installations, Consumer Experiences
Harbour City, Hong Kong’s largest shopping mall, tapped Italian artist Lucas Zanotto to help bring to life its sports-themed "Join the Loop" campaign, running July 19-Sept. 1.
The campaign leverages the excitement from the 2024 Summer Olympics to draw consumers to the mall. It features multiple large-scale installations designed by Zanotto, showcasing his “signature whimsical art style characterized by minimalist designs and vibrant geometric shapes,” according to a media release.
“Harbour City is transformed into an artistic sports wonderland to soak in the latest sports frenzy,” per the release. It includes:
- An outdoor “Moving Forward Sports Ground” spanning two photogenic spots and three sports-themed activity areas, where kids can dig into the sandpit, zoom around a tricycle track and captain their own remote-control canoe together with 5-meter-tall characters.
- At the mall's Ocean Terminal Deck tourist attraction, a “Happy Flipping Boxing Ring” includes more than 30 inflatables and an ideal outdoor viewing area of the Victoria Harbour.
In addition, the mall is hosting a multimedia exhibition from Zanotto, titled "Looping in Hong Kong," at Gallery by the Harbour. The exhibition showcases his favorite looping digital animations, featuring large-eyed, endearing characters and vibrant geometric patterns, as well as more than 20 physical artworks, including sculptures and prints.
