Brands get in the holiday spirit this week with a host of seasonal promotions launched in newspaper inserts. Among featured campaigns: Unilever and The Food Network team for a "Home for the Holidays" sweeps offering the "ultimate no-fuss feast," which includes $4,500 to be used for a catered meal. BIC USA continues to plug a sweeps for Soleil razors awarding a trip to the Christmas Spectacular at Radio City Music Hall in New York City to meet the Rockettes. Entry is at feelthesoleil.com. Runner-up prizes include 10 $500 awards and 1,000 cappuccino mug sets. Retailers including ShopRite gave heavy support to the campaign in weekly circulars.Ocean Spray Cranberries, Inc. takes out a two-page spread advertising holiday recipe ideas and a sweeps offering a $5,000 "Simply Sensational Holiday Table Shopping Spree." Details are at oceanspray.com.The J.M. Smucker Co. runs a full-page FSI offering a trip for four to the Country Music Association's Music Festival in Nashville. Five hundred compilation CDs will be awarded as runner-up prizes. Consumer also can receive a free Crisco Country Favorites recipe book by mailing in one UPC and $1.50 in shipping and handling fees. Meanwhile, the company teams its Smucker's toppings and Jif peanut butter in a mail-in offer for a set of measuring cups for $4.99. Alcon's Opti-Free hosts a sweeps awarding a trip to California's Sonoma Valley. Info is at optifree.com. General Mills runs a six-page event that includes an in-pack offer for a free Shrek 2 iron-on image. A total of six collectable images are found inside Lucky Charms, Trix, Honey Nut Cheerios, Cocoa Puffs, Kix and Reese's Puffs cereals. Meanwhile, the Pillsbury brand advertises a "special offer" related to DreamWorks' Shark Tale on boxes of Dunkables products. ConAgra Foods' Act II and Crunch 'N Munch host a two-page spread advertising an offer for a free Shrek "Slammer" toy with the purchase of four cartons of popcorn (plus $2 in shipping and handling fees) or a "Laugh and Shake Donkey" for $5.75 with the purchase of two packages of Crunch 'N Munch (plus $2.24 in shipping and handling fees). Georgia-Pacific's Dixie uses a full-page FSI to advertise limited-edition Shrek disposable bath cups. Consumers receive $1 off two packages of cups with the purchase of a dispenser. Duracell runs a full-page FSI promoting $4 off the purchase of the Shrek home video with two packages of batteries. Kellogg Co. plugs the new Disney/Pixar movie The Incredibles (see Related Articles) with a full-page FSI promoting an offer for a free toy inside cereal boxes. Schwan's Consumer Brands gets ready for the Nov. 30 home-video release of Sony Pictures' Spider-Man 2 with a full-page FSI offering $3 off the video with the purchase of three pizzas.
