Freeosk united CPG partners Hint and Conagra Brands' Angies' Boomchickapop and Act II for a promotion distributing "movie night" bingo cards at Sam's Club in January via sample-dispensing kiosks.Sam's Club shoppers received the printable cards by email after scanning their membership card or Freeosk mobile application at a kiosk, which stocked SKUs from the three brands. While the bingo cards themselves were brand-agnostic, the kiosk's digital screen communicated the promotion was sponsored by Hint, Act II and Angie’s Boomchickapop. An email sent to Freeosk customers supported the effort, plugging the Conagra brands. The Mars Agency helped Conagra execute. Meanwhile, the Freeosk screen also ran an ad plugging Schwan's Consumer Brands' Red Baron frozen pizza SKUs.Since rolling out to Sam's Club in 2013, Freeosk kiosks have regularly dispensed and stocked product from a single manufacturer or brand, including Procter & Gamble’s Gain and Pantene, and Bausch + Lomb’s Lumify. Freeosk has also united brands for co-marketing efforts similar to the "movie night" promotion for several years. However, using Freeosk kiosks to dispense coupons and materials besides samples seems to have become commonplace at the retailer following the disruption caused by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. For example, instead of distributing product, Freeosk kiosks are dispensing $1-off coupons for AlEn USA's Ensueno or Pinalen from Feb. 25 through March 10. Last September, Freeosk kiosks at Sam's Club similarly distributed coupons for $2-off Tyson Foods' sweet ginger boneless chicken bites while those at Walmart dispensed Munk Pack bars. This tactic makes it easier to promote non-shelf-stable products and removes the need for specialized packaging, even as it pushes the definition of sampling. Freeosk kiosks are available in more than 1,400 stores across Walmart, Sam's Club and select Albertsons Cos. chains. Beyond Sam's Club, current Freeosk activity encompasses:a free oil warmer from Reckitt Benckiser’s Air Wick via machines at Walmart from Feb. 25 through March 3, and a sample bag of Kellogg Co.'s Pop-Tarts "Bites" via kiosks at select Albertsons chains, including Randalls, from March 2-15.
