7-Eleven Adds Voice Ordering to 7Now Delivery Service

7-Eleven is launching "7Voice," allowing customers to place orders through its 7Now delivery service via voice-enabled devices Google Home and Amazon Echo. With a voice command, 7-Eleven shoppers can now instruct Google Assistant or Amazon Alexa to open the retailer's 7Now delivery app to place an order. Items that can be ordered include beverages, fresh and hot foods, snacks, cosmetics, home goods and thousands of other products available for purchase. Once customers place and pay for a 7NOW voice order, the selected 7-Eleven items are delivered in about 30 minutes or less. "We continuously challenge ourselves to find even more ways to offer convenience and value to our customers, when and where people need it most," said Raghu Mahadevan, 7-Eleven's vice president of digital and delivery, in a media release. "7Voice takes 7Now ordering from screen to voice, enabling customers to order in whatever way they prefer that is most convenient to them."The convenience store chain said voice ordering builds on its rapid digital ramp-up to better serve today's shoppers who expect to get what they want as easily and quickly as possible. Among its recent digital initiatives, 7-Eleven launched its 7Now delivery in 2017 and has expanded the service to more than 34 major metropolitan areas, serving more than 30 million households. In the past two years, the retailer has also:added an 7Now Pins option to its 7Now delivery app, enabling delivery to hundreds of public places, expanded its 7Rewards loyalty program to a points-based system, introduced mobile checkout in select stores, and implemented augmented reality experiences in the 7-Eleven mobile app.
