Southeastern Grocers heavily promoted a pair of short-term deals on meal centerpieces ahead of the Nov. 24 Thanksgiving holiday.The retailer offered a $6 frozen turkey of any size to loyalty cardholders who spent $30 from Nov. 19-20 and ran the same deal for ham from Nov. 21-22. TV and radio spots, run-of-press ads in newspapers such as The Birmingham News, carousel ads on chain home pages, and Facebook and Twitter updates plugged the incentive.In stores, seasonal sections were devoted to the holiday starting in early November, stocking cooking and hosting needs from brands including General Mills' Pillsbury, Kraft Heinz Co.'s Jell-O, Continental Mills' Krusteaz, Nestle's Libby's and Idahoan Foods' flagship. The display kit included in-line headers, violators, shelf strips and floorstands. The holiday's reach extended to rolling carts in action alley that used "Happy Thanksgiving" sign frames and offered deals on product from brands including Del Monte Foods' flagship, Unilever's Hellmann's, Dr Pepper Snapple Group's Welch's and Huhtamaki's Chinet.In other seasonal activity, Southeastern Grocers made its ongoing partnership with chef Curtis Stone part of its Thanksgiving campaign. Carousel ads on chain home pages linked to holiday recipes from Curtis that also appeared in the November issue of Southeastern Grocers' Flavor magazine.After the holiday, the retailer leveraged the designation of Nov. 29 as "Giving Tuesday" to kick off a fundraiser for Feeding America, pledging five cents to the nonprofit for every loaf of store-brand bread sold through November 24, 2017. Circular features, home page carousel ads, email ads, and Facebook and Twitter updates support the campaign.
