ColourPop Conjures Harry Potter Line at Ulta

Cosmetics brand ColourPop brought a line of licensed Harry Potter products exclusively to Ulta in September as part of an ongoing partnership with the beauty retailer. The Harry Potter X ColourPop collection launched on ColourPop.com on Sept. 8 before rolling out to Ulta stores and Ulta.com on Sept. 18. The collection encompasses: a 24-shade “Back to Hogwarts” eyeshadow palette, ink liners and lip balms inspired by the wizarding school’s four houses, and liquid lipsticks, highlighters and a lip gloss themed for various characters. All of the SKUs are bundled together for $170, and they can be purchased individually for $10-$30. While the entire collection remains available via ColourPop.com, only four items — the powder palette, the lip gloss and liquid lipsticks in two colors — remain available on Ulta.com. In stores, the line was stocked near checkout on a table display plugging the SKUs as “new + only here.” A home page banner ad on ColourPop.com and posts across the brand’s Facebook, Instagram and TikTok accounts supported the launch. On social media, ColourPop ran a sweepstakes awarding four winners the full collection plus a set of Hogwarts house-themed roses from Roseshire Co. Eight runners-up received the collection. Consumers could enter from Sept. 19-24 by responding to designated posts on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram or TikTok. ColourPop has regularly released collections exclusively at Ulta since launching at the retailer in 2018. The brand also tied in to the Sept. 30 streaming release of Disney’s "Hocus Pocus 2" with a licensed line that launched on ColourPop.com on Sept. 22 before arriving at Ulta on Oct. 2. The collection ranges from $9-$24 at the beauty retailer with the "full collection" available for $91 (the entire collection is priced at $99 on the brand's DTC site, but comes with body powered and cat-ear hair clips not sold at Ulta). Ulta promoted the exclusive with a feature in its Oct. 2 circular and posts across Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
