Albertsons Cos. has named Emily Turner its new chief marketing officer. The appointment comes as the grocery giant continues to invest in digital experiences, personalization and other ways of deepening customer engagement across its banners.

Turner shared news of her first day at Albertsons on LinkedIn, writing that she was “energized” to join the company as CMO and calling the opportunity to work with a company of Albertsons’ “scale, heritage and heart” a privilege.

Turner joins Albertsons after nearly two years as CMO of The Fresh Market. In a July LinkedIn post announcing her departure, Turner said she was grateful for the opportunity to lead the specialty grocer’s marketing team, noting that the group had “built new capabilities” and “drove meaningful growth” during her tenure.

During her time at The Fresh Market, Turner oversaw several digital and customer-focused initiatives. She expanded the grocer’s delivery partnerships and piloted a holiday floral program on DoorDash, while also helping reposition the brand amid softer consumer activity. She guided the development of The Fresh Market’s first native mobile app and the revamp of its loyalty program, TFM Rewards.

P2PI sibling publication Progressive Grocer recognized those accomplishments earlier this year, naming Turner among its “2026 Top Women in Grocery: Senior-Level Executives.” The awards program highlighted her e-commerce growth initiatives, localized pricing work, mobile-app development and community leadership, including her service on the GroceryNEXT Advisory Board.

Turner’s resume also includes a stint at Dollar Tree, where she served as CMO from 2022 to 2024. In that role, she was involved in the retailer’s digital transformation.

Before moving into the retailer side, Turner spent nearly a decade at customer data and analytics firm Dunnhumby, holding a range of customer engagement and marketing roles across North America and international markets. Her work there focused on areas including customer engagement, personalization, loyalty and media, per her LinkedIn.

The move gives Albertsons a marketing chief with experience spanning traditional grocery, specialty food, value retail and customer data, as well as experience with loyalty, e-commerce, mobile, delivery and retail media.
