Macy’s reprised a longstanding partnership with the nonprofit Breast Cancer Research Foundation this fall to raise awareness and funds during “Breast Cancer Awareness Month.”Throughout October, the retailer merchandised commemorative pink products from various brands in dedicated spaces at 350 stores. The items spanned apparel, accessories, cosmetics and home goods, and included skinny denim from Celebrity Pink Jeans and a leopard-print lace top from private label INC International Concepts; 10% of proceeds from sales of the former and 5% from the latter were slated for BCRF.The products also were grouped in a “Pink Shop” at macys.com/pink. A home-page banner ad linked to the microsite.Additionally, cosmetics departments showcased pink counter displays employing a "Courage" message from Estee Lauder Cos.'s Origins. The promotion marked the manufacturer's 20th year of support for breast cancer causes.Meanwhile, Macy’s Bloomingdale’s chain executed a more extensive campaign that included:the reprisal of a “Give Pink, Get More” rewards program that offered the chain's “Insider” credit cardholders up to $250 in gift cards with $15 donations to BCRF from Sept. 27 through Oct. 31.
