Intensor Gaming Chair Demonstrator Puts Gamers in the Action

The Intensor gaming chair from BSG Laboratories is "a new, one-of-a-kind product that we don't expect consumers to understand and buy without a demonstration," says Bill Beres, senior vice president of sales and marketing for the Raleigh/Durham, N.C.-based company. "We needed a self-contained, immersive sound and visual feedback system that allowed consumers to sit in the chair and experience and understand the product, without an in-depth explanation."Within 10 seconds of sitting in the chair and experiencing it through this P-O-P demonstrator, people know what it's all about. Without this kiosk demonstrator and display, we wouldn't expect to have acceptable sales levels," notes Beres.The company's Intensor gaming chair is not a product by itself, but is a sensory enhancement that ties into the video, audio, PC and gaming software markets. Within the product's 5-foot-high demonstration unit, consumers are able to interact with and experience the effects of the Intensor chair.To simulate the home gaming experience, the demonstrator provides enough space to accommodate most television and VCR brands for a hands-on association comparable to the games they use at home. A continuous-loop demo tape of a rollercoaster experience provides the video and sound stimuli.Designed by Blau Marketing, Wilton, Conn., manufactured by Thomson-Leeds Company Inc., New York, and introduced in October, BSG's Intensor gaming chair "was key in gaining entry into our first major national account: Comp USA," reports Beres. Other targets include Best Buy, Sam's Club and CostCo. Beres says the chair's initial production run was 450, but that the company expects to place the Intensor chair in more than 2,000 stores by the end of this year.
