FSI Report: Oct. 10, 2004

Old is new again in this week's FSIs as Campbell Soup Co. and B&G Foods revive promotions from the past year. Campbell brings back its "SouperStar Mansion" sweeps, which awards one winner and guests a one-week mansion stay featuring service from a personal butler, limo driver and chef. Consumers enter by plugging in codes found on cans at mysoup.com. (See "FSI Report: Feb. 22, 2004" in Related Articles.) Meanwhile, Meijer hosts an overlay asking consumers to vote for their favorite Campbell's soup for the chance to win one of two family vacations to Washington, D.C. Runner-up prizes include 10 $1,000 U.S. Savings Bonds and kids' soup for a year through a $100 Meijer store card. B&G reruns its "Kicked Up Recipe Contest," which offers a trip to New York City to meet Emeril Lagasse at a taping of ABC's Good Morning America. Consumers submit recipes using one or more Emeril's Original brand seasonings, sauces or salad dressings at kickeduprecipe.com or at various ABC web sites through Dec. 31. The first contest ran in fall 2003. (See "FSI Report: Oct. 5, 2003" in Related Articles.) Meanwhile, fellow consumer packaged goods companies continue supporting ongoing campaigns. Georgia-Pacific's Quilted Northern promotes a cause-marketing program with ABC's The View and the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation in which the CPG maker donates 50 cents to the foundation for every Quilted Northern Ultra UPC consumers mail in. The full-page FSI also directs consumers to watch The View on Oct. 25 and 26 to see the unveiling of the Quilts of Inspiration. (See "FSI Report: Aug. 15, 2004" in Related Articles.) Georgia-Pacific also runs a full-page FSI plugging a "Great Debate" sweeps running exclusively at Ahold USA stores. The promotion, which ran in July at Tops, Giant Carlisle and Bruno's and is now running at Stop & Shop and Giant Landover, asks consumers to vote on whether they roll their toilet paper "over" or "under." Elsewhere, Kraft Foods leverages its newly launched partnership with the South Beach Diet in a two-page spread offering a free recipe sampler book with the purchase of three participating Kraft products and $1.99 in shipping and handling fees. Co-equity FSIs with retailers including Stop & Shop support. Chains including Meijer and Giant Eagle are hosting account-specific activity. (See Related Articles.) In other FSI-supported campaigns breaking this week: Eastman Kodak Co. teams with Nestle Foods for a "Give the Candy, Keep the Picture" promotion offering consumers $1.50 off participating Kodak products with the purchase of two bags of Nestle Fun Size candies. Reckitt Benckiser's Lysol plugs its Sanitizing Wipes SKU with a "Wipe Out Germs" on-pack, instant-win game dangling a $25,000 grand prize. Information is at Lysol.com. Pinnacle Foods' Hungry Man hosts an "Eat Well, Live Large" sweeps dangling a trip to Las Vegas and VIP seats to a national poker tournament. Entry is at hungrymanjackpot.com. The two-page spread contains $6 in coupons. Nestle Foods' Hot Pockets introduces three new flavors with a "Falling Flavor Frenzy" sweeps dangling a $6,000 grand prize. Entry is at hotpockets.com through Dec. 31. Bayer Healthcare runs a two-page spread advocating "pharmacist trusted brands for all of your family's health needs." The event delivers $10 in coupons from brands including Alka-Seltzer, Aleve and Flintstones vitamins. Retailers including Brooks and Eckerd direct consumers to the FSI in their weekly circulars. The Sioux Honey Association's Sue Bee Honey continues to promote a sweeps offering the street version of NASCAR driver Kyle Petty's car (a 2004 Dodge Intrepid). Similar FSIs ran on Sept. 12, 2004 and Oct. 19, 2003. Sara Lee Foods' Ballpark promotes a sweeps dangling a trip to a college football bowl game. Entry is at cbssportsline.com through Nov. 30.
