Whole Foods Market has enlisted cookbook author Joan Nathan to develop a menu of prepared foods for the Jewish holiday of Passover.Starting on March 4, the retailer began taking preorders online and in stores for a $119.99 eight-person meal designed by Nathan. Some of her dishes can also be ordered a la carte in servings meant for four people. The food is available for in-store pickup from March 28 to April 7. Select stores also began selling Nathan's most recent cookbook, King Solomon's Table, starting on March 12.“We’re honored to be able to share [Nathan's] delicious and authentic recipes with our customers,” Whole Foods head of culinary innovation Tien Ho said in a media release. “Each of her dishes includes a modern twist on a traditional Jewish recipe and is a great addition to any Passover celebration.”Whole Foods began partnering with Nathan last year, with stores in the Mid-Atlantic region selling prepared foods based on recipes from King Solomon's Table for Rosh Hashana, Yom Kippur and Hanukkah. Stores also distributed recipe cards from Nathan, and shoppers who placed $100 online orders for Rosh Hashana or Yom Kippur received a free copy of the cookbook.A feature in the retailer's March 21 mailer promoted the Passover collaboration along with an eight-person Easter dinner. Run-of-press ads in The Washington Post, and display ads on websites such as drugs.com and curbed.com encourage placing online orders for Easter or Passover.In stores, framed and checkout signs tout prepared foods for Easter. The retailer also is promoting its Easter offerings with a home page carousel ad linking to a seasonal website facilitating online orders and hosting recipes and tips.
