Kraft Names Sales Heads for Grocery, Snack Businesses

Kraft Foods has appointed heads of sales for its separated grocery and snack businesses following the company's announcement that it would split into two public companies. Tom Corley, currently senior vice president of U.S. sales, was named president of sales for the North American grocery business, according to CSP Daily News. Corley will assume the role April 1 and be based at Kraft's headquarters in Northfield, IL. Corley has spent 25 years with Kraft, holding key sales roles in field and headquarters positions. He will report to Mike Hsu, president, sales, customer marketing and logistics.Don Quigley was named president of sales for the global snacks business, which will be officially named in March. Quigley was president of global consumer sales for Neenah, WI-based Kimberly-Clark and has held senior sales positions at PepsiCo and E&J Gallo Winery. He will join Kraft on March 1 and report to Mark Clouse, president, snacks and confectionery.Kraft also announced that Bonin Bough joined the company as vice president, global digital and consumer engagement. Bough will lead digital marketing initiatives as he develops partnerships and internal capabilities in the space.Kraft announced plans to divide and create two independent public companies in August 2011. (See Related Articles.) The $18 billion North American grocery business, which will retain the Kraft Foods name, includes the U.S. beverages, cheese, convenient meals and grocery segments. Key brands include Stove Top, Philadelphia, Velveeta, Kool-Aid, Capri Sun and Jell-O. The $35 billion global snacks business will be officially named in March and will focus on brands such as Oreo, Ritz, Planters and Trident.The transaction is expected to be completed before the end of 2012. Irene Rosenfeld, currently chairman and chief executive officer of Kraft Foods, will become chairman and ceo of the global snacks company. W. Anthony (Tony) Vernon, currently executive vice president and president, Kraft Foods North America, will become chief executive officer of the North American grocery company. John Cahill, currently an industrial partner of private equity firm Ripplewood Holdings LLC, will become non-executive chairman of the grocery business.
