Kmart's latest promotional collaboration with Clorox Co. is a spring cleaning-themed effort involving Georgia-Pacific. The "Home Spring Home" promotion features a sweepstakes awarding a $30,000 grand prize and a rebate overlay offering $5 discounts on purchases of $15 in participating Clorox and Georgia-Pacific products. Brands involved in the rebate offer include Clorox's Pine-Sol, 409 and Tilex and Georgia-Pacific's Brawny and Quilted Northern. In-store support includes product placement on drive aisle displays and shelf signs. The sweeps also is featured on Kmart's website. Kmart has teamed with Clorox for several sweepstakes and other promotions over the past year. (See Related Articles.) In other activity, Kmart this week launches a "Class Acts" contest that invites participants to submit an essay nominating a person who makes a difference at a local school. Ten winning nominees score a trip to New York City and a new wardrobe and will be featured in national advertising for back-to-school next fall. In addition, Kmart will contribute $2,500 dollars to both a school and a student of each winner's choice. Troy, MI-based Kmart operates 1,504 stores in 49 states. Kmart Holdings Corp., the umbrella company that will oversee the soon-to-be-merged Sears and Kmart chains, announced in March that it plans to convert 400 Kmart stores to the Sears banner in the next three years.
