Rite Aid partnered with Procter & Gamble this week to execute an exclusive incentive offer leveraging the manufacturer’s Olympic Games sponsorship in a tie-in to its latest brandSaver FSI drop.The drugstore chain promised a free P&G Beauty gift set (valued at $30) with purchase of $50 worth of beauty brands. Promoting the offer across virtually all its marketing vehicles, the retailer plugged P&G’s Olympics sponsorship and utilized the same “Thank You, Mom” theme employed in this month's brandSaver. Most elements also plugged a $10 rebate offer presented in the April 29 FSI event. (See Related Articles.)The program includes an extensive P-O-P plan featuring endcaps and an in-line display comprising headers, violators, shelf boxes and counter cards, the last of which tout the incentive offer. The merchandising assortment includes Olympics-themed shelf trays and packaging, including the multi-brand gift sets that showcase a specific Olympics athlete.A front-page feature in Rite Aid’s April 29 circular and a recent email blast also promoted the offer, with the former spotlighting products from Clairol Nice ‘N Easy, Always, Tampax, Pantene, CoverGirl, Gillette Venus, Satin Care and Olay. Throughout the tab, P&G brands with corresponding brandSaver coupons were flagged with special icons directing consumers to Sunday newspapers to find the savings.
