Loblaw Cos. banner No Frills is removing mutli-buy promotions from its stores nationwide as part of a new approach to pricing.

Instead of offers such as "buy two for 5 Canadian dollars or one for 2.99," the discount grocer says the lower prices now extend to individual items. The move is effective immediately.

"We pride ourselves on always keeping our customers’ needs at heart, and listening to their feedback,” Melanie Singh, president, No Frills, said in a media release. "Our customers told us loud and clear that they don’t want to have to buy more to save."

No Frills is giving shoppers other ways to save, including:

  • Its Hit of the Month, where one product is marked down.
  • Loyalty pricing and PC Optimum points-earning opportunities.
  • In-store and flyer promotions.
  • Rain checks on flyer features.
  • A fresh guarantee, where No Frills will replace produce that isn't fresh and give a refund.
  • Throw-back pricing on items each month.

"No Frills stores are a destination for customers looking for the best possible deals and we’re committed to making sure they know they can shop with confidence that they’re getting great value. With the elimination of multi-buy pricing, we are making it even easier for our customers to manage their budgets every day," Singh added.
