Grilling Season Shopper Habits
Shoppers turn to grocery stores almost three times more than Walmart for their outdoor cooking needs, according to Breaktime Media.
Breaktime surveyed shoppers on their grilling season habits — from where they shop for their outdoor cooking necessities to what type of food they grill most often.
Burgers are the most popular items with about 40% of respondents selecting that meat. Chicken and steak follow with 20% and 19%, respectively.
Barbecue sauce was ranked as the top condiment for grilled foods at 26%, followed by ketchup with 19% and cheese at 15%.
At 37% and 36%, cost and flavor were nearly tied for the most important factors when purchasing grilling ingredients.
More than half of all surveyed shoppers identified grocery stores as the most common place where they shop for grilling necessities. Walmart comes in second with 20% of responses, and club stores are third with 12%.
When it comes to factors that would make shoppers most likely to try a new grilling-related product, 30% selected easy to prepare or use. Whether it has a coupon or sale pricing was close behind with 27% of responses. A total of 15% chose whether a new grilling product is recommended by friends or family.
