Empire Expands Partnership With FoodHero to Reduce Waste
Empire Co. Ltd. is expanding its partnership with FoodHero, a Montreal-based food waste app.
Shoppers at Sobeys and other Empire banners in Ontario, Atlantic Canada and Western Canada can access discounts on surplus food at more than 500 participating stores.
The rollout began early in July, starting at participating Sobeys stores in Ontario, followed by Sobeys and Foodland in Atlantic Canada, and then Sobeys, Safeway, IGA West and Thrifty Foods locations in Western Canada.
FoodHero’s app connects consumers to local participating stores offering discounts — 50% in English Canada and up to 60% in Quebec — on select items across bakery, meat, prepared foods and dry goods categories.
