Dollar General will roll out an enhanced, AI-enabled in-store audio network across approximately 6,000 of its stores in 48 states, essentially doubling the number of its locations with in-store audio capabilities.

The discount retailer is partnering with Qsic, a global in-store audio platform that leverages AI and data to help retailers and brands amplify their in-store media's potential. Qsic's technology will enable the retailer to deliver relevant, localized and measurable messaging in real-time and at scale to thousands of communities.

Dollar General launched its in-store audio network in 2024, part of its steady development of in-store advertising solutions that include:

"This platform allows us to deliver localized, real-time messaging at scale across the thousands of communities we serve — especially in underserved and often overlooked rural areas," Austin Leonard, vice president and general manager of DG Media Network, said in a media release. "It's a powerful way to create value for our brand partners while enhancing the in-store experience for the millions of customers who rely on Dollar General every day through more relevant, contextual messaging designed to add value, not noise, to their shopping trip."

Dollar General operates more than 20,000 stores across the United States; approximately 75% of the U.S. population lives within five miles of a location, making it highly accessible especially in rural areas, where Dollar General often serves as a key destination for everyday essentials.

Qsic's proprietary technology verifies ad delivery; its closed-loop reporting helps brands measure and understand performance and impact.

"Dollar General's unparalleled store base and deep reach into communities across the country make it an incredibly powerful opportunity for brands," Matt Elsley, co-founder and CEO of Qsic, said in the release. With retail seeing approximately 85% of sales occurring in-store, physical locations remain the most valuable media channel."

Dollar General says the expansion of the audio network should be complete within the second quarter of 2026.
