Best Buy has shut down the third-party online marketplace it opened five years ago.The consumer electronics retailer cited low revenue, product overlap and high customer confusion (over whether items could be returned to Best Buy stores) as the reasons for closing the third-party marketplace. “We believe we can continue to provide a positive customer experience on our site through other product sourcing methods,” Best Buy e-commerce president Mary Lou Kelley said in an email to vendors, according to various reports. The platform went offline on Feb. 24.Many of the retailers sold similar merchandise to Best Buy, except refurbished, a business that the retailer would like to capture for itself.
