Staples Preps for Tax Season

Staples is preparing for tax season with "Tax Time 2010" pallet displays that merchandise such products as file folders and tax forms. The chain is also showcasing pallet displays for Intuit's TurboTax and H&R Block's H&R Block At Home. Related promotions include an offer for 50% off Symantec's Norton 360 anti-virus software with any purchase of tax software. Staples Rewards members are eligible for $10 discounts on advanced versions of H&R Block At Home.Elsewhere, the chain is delivering a booklet carrying $500 in savings with select computer purchases. The discounts include $30 off Norton 360, $20 off a Seagate portable hard drive, and $20 off a Linksys wireless network. The booklets are plugged on signs near eligible SKUs. Meanwhile, Norton 360 at half-price is used as bait on the purchase of any desktop, laptop, or netbook computer or technology service. Graphics on quarter-pallet displays and circular features support.In vendor-supplied activity, Staples is hosting an account-specific "Easy To Use, Easy To Win" game/sweepstakes from Avery Dennison Corp.'s Avery. Running Dec. 1, 2009, through March 28, the sweeps awards a grand-prize, six-day trip to Aruba. Entry is on a promotional site. The corresponding instant-win game asks participants to determine which Avery labels work best in different rooms. One hundred instant winners get Staples gift cards ranging from $25 to $100. Framingham, MA-based Cohen-Friedberg Associates administers.Promotional support includes pallet displays merchandising new Avery label pads and note tabs. Staples' Jan. 3 circular introduced the products with a "buy one, get one free" offer on the pads.Also this month, Staples teamed with "goal-setting" website stickk.com to launch a "Staples Stikk to it! Business Challenge" aimed at helping small businesses achieve their 2010 goals. Participants sign up at a promotional website, select a goal and track their progress from Jan. 12 through April 12. The chain is awarding "EasyPoints" to participants that can be redeemed for products and services.Displays and SignsEndcaps in January sport a "Stock Your Office for Less" theme and merchandise such products as file folders, desk calendars and plastic storage bins. Window posters and circular features also present the theme.Other endcaps communicate, "New Semester.
