Michael J. Fox Voices Real Canadian Superstore's Newest Ads
Real Canadian Superstore has launched a new national ad campaign featuring actor and activist Michael J. Fox.
The two commercials — one 60 seconds and the other 30 seconds — feature the Fox’s narration and are airing at a time when tensions linger over a simmering trade war between the U.S. and its neighbor to the north.
The longer ad opens with just the sound of blowing wind. As the camera pulls back, a Canadian flag is revealed. Nearly 45 seconds in, the viewer sees it fluttering in the breeze, above the Loblaw Companies banner.
Fox speaks about what the flag symbolizes, how that red maple leaf adorns helmets, windows and bumpers, “stitched in the hearts of millions of Canadians,” adding “that the way to stand for something is to stand together.” In the remaining seconds, the viewer sees the flag is flying above a Real Canadian Superstore.
A second commercial highlights the supermarket chain’s employees as they begin their morning shifts as Canadian band Rush’s “The Spirit of the Radio” plays.
