Front-End Display Changes Layout

Rosemount, MN -- Cannon Equipment designed its Versagrid merchandising system for the front-end display space in stores. The modular display uses components that rearrange in different configurations for cross merchandising space.Kenny Ramsey, vice president of marketing and new product development, says the idea to create VersaGrid came from meeting the needs of different retailers who want to change a layout based on seasonal promotions and new SKU introductions. Versagrid uses shelves, pockets and bins that can be changed out, rear-ranged or locked into place. Most of Versagrid's parts are made from steel. The system also allows retailers at least 5% more stack-out, according to Ramsey. "The system is on a grid which offers horizontal adjustments. With the unique bracket system you can have up to 1/4-inch vertical adjustment, which enables very tight pack outs to optimize space." The system is based on panels that attach together. The smallest panel offered is 18 inches wide and the largest is 4 feet wide. The cost, says Ramsey, is dependent on how it is configured, and the company says it will be comparable to custom fixtures today. The display's modular components use a patent-pending attachment device for various configurations. Standard heights are 54 inches, 57 inches and 60 inches, but the company will create custom configurations as well. Cannon plans to test Versagrid with select retailers and is expected to launch more broadly in early 2011. Cannon is targeting retailers, CPG manufacturers and display companies.
