Buitoni Brings Impossible Ravioli to Sam’s Club

A new plant-based-meat ravioli created through a collaboration with Buitoni Food Co. and Impossible Foods is enjoying secondary merchandising space at Sam’s Club.In stores, shelf trays positioned within a refrigerated endcap stock bulk-size, 27-ounce packages of Buitoni ravioli stuffed with three cheeses and Impossible plant-based Italian sausage. A feature in the warehouse club’s Jan. 5 circular used a “better than the real thing” message to promote the SKU alongside plant-based meat options from Conagra Brands’ Gardein and Beyond Meat.Buitoni’s Impossible Italian sausage ravioli debuted at Publix in late 2021 in a 9-ounce package before hitting Sam’s Club shelves earlier this year. The ravioli, which is also available stuffed with Impossible plant-based beef, has since launched at Ahold Delhaize’s Hannaford and is expected to continue expanding throughout the year to most major grocery chains that carry Buitoni, including ShopRite and Ahold Delhaize’s Stop & Shop. It is unclear if Buitoni’s 27-ounce, Italian sausage ravioli SKU at Sam's Club will roll out to other retailers. The collaboration stemmed from a Buitoni office potluck lunch for which Peter B. Wilson, Jr., created a sauce made with Impossible Foods meat that was well-received by staff, the former Buitoni Food president and chief executive officer told Hearst Connecticut Media's CT Insider.
