Arden Introduces Tester for Elizabeth Taylor Black Pearls

A tester unit for Elizabeth Taylor Black Pearls, the newest fragrance from Elizabeth Arden, is the on-counter focal point for the fragrance and mirrors the product's fancy black and gold packaging. The unit was designed to fit within the brand's counter environment and reinforce the Black Pearls image to the consumer.The upscale display showcases a 1/4-ounce frosted Black Pearls perfume bottle with a jeweled stopper that is permanently affixed to the top of a small pedestal. Two tester bottles, a 100-milliliter eau de parfum spray and a 200-milliliter body lotion pump, are presented on the base. The display features a brushed gold aluminum riser and base that are coated with polyurethane to protect the finish from perfume droplets. A glass top for the base further protects the metal from scratches. The black nylon shell standing behind the two testers replicates the Black Pearls bottle design and has a shiny finish that is perfume resistant. A screen-printed header is attached to the riser prior to coating. The display measures 12 inches wide by 14 inches high by 8 inches deep."One of the biggest attributes of this display is the brushed gold aluminum metal, and the way in which the entire unit mimics the shape and feel of the product," says Ghows Tarzi, vice president of creative for Dauman Displays, a subsidiary of Everbrite Inc., Greenfield, Wis. "The simplicity of this design really brings the products out."The display was designed in-house at New York-based Elizabeth Arden. "Our goal was to create a display that showcases the perfume, thus the pedestal, and carries the testers in a user-friendly, upscale unit," explains Susan R. Wacker, the senior design director at Elizabeth Arden who designed the unit. "The display and packaging have all the same graphic elements, and both reinforce the Black Pearls image."The concept for Black Pearls was developed around Elizabeth Taylor's "magnificent taste and knowledge of fine jewelry," says Theresa Watters, Elizabeth Arden's marketing manager of fragrance development. A black pearl is one of the rarest gems and reflects the rare qualities of Elizabeth Taylor herself, Watters says. The shell motif represents the sea, where black pearls are created, and the stopper replicates some of the finest settings produced by world-renowned jewelers. "These elements are intrinsic in the design for the Black Pearls product line and the fragrance tester display unit," she says.Watters adds that the unit provides the flexibility to display other fragrances as they are added to the line, since no gully holes hold the current two tester products in place.The Elizabeth Taylor Black Pearls product line is distributed by Parfum International, a division of Elizabeth Arden.
