Sobeys Parent Company Empire 'Stands Up' With Patriotic Ad
Empire Co. Ltd has released a new commercial ad spot touting its Canadian roots.
The spot showcases Empire’s family of brands — including Sobeys, Safeway, IGA, FreshCo and Longo’s — “standing up” in support of Canadians.
“Like you, we stand up for our farmers and our communities, for our 130,000 teammates from coast to coast, we stand up for each other,” a voice says as the spot begins. “[Our shelves are] stocked with more Canadian products than ever, so every family has all the choices they need to stand up and invest in our economy, too.”

The marketing push comes as escalating trade tensions between the U.S. and Canada reignite the "Buy Canadian" movement. Sobeys first tapped into the sentiment in 2025 with its "So Canadian" campaign.
