J&J Thanks the Troops

Johnson & Johnson activated its "Healthy Essentials" platform last week in a multi-page FSI event that tied in to the Nov. 11 observance of Veterans Day to spotlight the United Service Organizations (USO).Distributed on Nov. 6 via News America Marketing’s SmartSource program (in some markets), the stand-alone insert's front page promised “over $75” in savings, comprised of roughly $35 in coupons contained within the event and another $45 in offers on healthyessentials.com. It also detailed ways to trigger manufacturer donations (up to $100,000) to the USO “to help keep military families healthy.” Under a “Saying thanks is the most thoughtful gift of all” message, J&J pledged $2 to the nonprofit for every new healthyessentials.com registration and $1 for each message sent to the troops via uso.org through Dec. 31. The event’s front-page also encouraged consumers to watch the Nov. 7 premiere of J&J-sponsored PBS documentary USO - For the Troops.Additional themed activity included a half-page FSI for Sudafed and Visine reminding military families they can help “prepare for active duty when the troops need it most.”In other seasonal activity:Mylanta, Pepcid, Lactaid and Imodium joined for a Thanksgiving-themed, full-page FSI reminidng consumers to make sure they are set for the holidays. Tylenol encouraged consumers to stop their “painful coughing, congestion and sore throat" in a full-page FSI.Lubriderm, Aveeno, RoC and Neutrogena united in a full-page FSI encouraging consumers to “celebrate with a fresh outlook each day.”Additionally, a full-page, co-equity FSI for Walgreens directed consumers to Sunday newspapers for coupons awarding $2.50 off the purchase of two participating Tylenol products and $1 off the purchase of a Tylenol PM SKU. It also reminded consumers to "set your clock back for Daylight Savings Time."Other brands spotlighted within the event included Benadryl, Zyrtec, Desitin, Motrin and Bengay.
