Walmart Canada is hosting its inaugural Canada Growth Summit on July 9, inviting Canadian suppliers and entrepreneurs from across the country to pitch their products directly to the retailer’s merchants.

The Canada event follows similar events in other markets around the globe, including the United States, India, Chile, Mexico and Africa.

"Since 1994, Walmart Canada has been proud to work with Canadian suppliers across the country, buying billions of dollars' worth of Canadian-made products," Venessa Yates, president and CEO, Walmart Canada, said in a media release. "Our first Canada Growth Summit comes on the heels of announcing our historic $6.5 billion investment and will help to set the stage for our continued growth in Canada. More importantly, it reinforces our longstanding focus on partnering with Canadian suppliers and developing deep relationships with them as we work to better serve our customers."

The summit will be held at Walmart Canada’s Store Support Center head office in Mississauga, Ontario. Canadian suppliers can apply at www.rangeme.com/canadagrowthsummit through May 9.

Selected vendors will be invited to pitch their products to potential merchant partners at the event, which also includes:

  • keynote presentations hosted by Walmart Canada leaders,
  • educational supplier development sessions and networking opportunities, and
  • product-listing support on Walmart Canada’s online marketplace.

The announcement comes as many Canadians are boycotting American products in response to U.S. tariffs. Other retailers, including Amazon Canada, have been highlighting homegrown products in response to the simmering trade war.
