Longo’s has opened a new supermarket in Vaughn, Ontario. The Feb. 27 unveiling brings the grocer's Ontario footprint to 41 stores.

Located at 67 Colossus Drive, the 25,000-square-foot store offers a full array of groceries.

It also boasts a large produce department, a stone oven pizza and gourmet sandwich program, in-store sushi counter, a Pronto Eats heat-and-eat meals section, a market-style bakery with Italian sweets (acknowledging the chain’s roots), a Starbucks kiosk, salad bar, olive bar and a wide selection of beer and wine. Longo’s plans to open its 42nd store this spring, in the nearby community of Kleinburg.

Empire Co. Ltd. (which owns Sobeys, Safeway, Thrifty Foods and other supermarkets, discount, drug and convenience banners) acquired a majority stake in the family-built network of Longo’s stores and its e-commerce arm, Grocery Gateway, in 2021. Longo’s continues to operate as a stand-alone business with its own private labels and app. Grocery Gateway was folded into Sobeys’ Voila e-commerce platform in 2023.
