Loblaw Advance Names Leanne Gibson as New Retail Media Leader

Leanne Gibson has held roles with Spotify, Walmart Connect, Twitter, Meta and Yahoo.

Loblaw Cos. has named Leanne Gibson to lead its Loblaw Advance retail media arm. Gibson assumes her new role as senior vice president, effective Jan. 6, 2026.

Gibson joins with more than 20 years of leadership experience across the retail, media and technology industries, according to a Loblaw spokesperson. She has held senior roles at Spotify, Walmart Connect, Twitter, Meta and Yahoo, where she built and led high-performing teams, drove innovation in retail media, and deepened partnerships across the advertising ecosystem. 

Gibson will be tasked with shaping Loblaw Advance's retail media strategy, strengthening client partnerships, and unlocking new opportunities to connect its customers, partners and brands, per the statement.

"Leanne is known for her collaborative leadership style, deep industry expertise and passion for developing talent, all of which will be invaluable as we accelerate the next chapter of Loblaw Advance’s journey," the spokesperson noted. "We are pleased to have someone of Leanne’s caliber join the team to lead this important strategic initiative for the organization." 

Loblaw is Canada's largest retailer, with more than 2,400 stores. Its banners include Loblaw, Real Canadian Superstore, Shoppers Drug Mart, T&T Supermarkets and Zehrs. 

The company launched its retailer media network in 2023, which uses data from its nearly 16 million PC Optimum loyalty members to help brands connect with shoppers. It continues to power its retail media options, recently expanding its in-store digital screen network using Stratacache technology.
