Farm Boy is planning to open three new grocery stores in Ontario — two in Ottawa and one in Collingwood.

The Empire Company chain's Ottawa stores will be located at 700 Terry Fox Drive in Kanata, and at Bank Street and Dun Skipper Road in Findlay Creek. The Collingwood Farm Boy will be at 39 Huron St.

Officials said in a news release that the chain has "a healthy number of additional locations in the pipeline."

The chain has been on a steady growth trajectory in the province. Empire bought Farm Boy in 2018, when there were 26 locations. Last December it opened its 51st store.

Empire has said from the beginning that it intends to let Farm Boy run independently, keeping a strong focus on local and private label products. It has converted some Sobeys and Urban Fresh locations to the Farm Boy format.
