As Dom’s Kitchen & Market prepares for the opening of its second location on Nov. 1, the upscale grocer is also eyeing a location for its third store in Chicago.

Dom’s, which is led by Bob Mariano and Don Fitzgerald (founders of the now Kroger-owned Mariano's supermarket), introduced its small-format modern grocery store in Chicago's Lincoln Park neighborhood in June 2021. The grocer is hyperfocused on localization and personalization. It somewhat resembles a Mariano’s store with its various in-store departments and dedicated counters for fresh offerings, such as sushi, meat cuts and cheese assortments.

Dom’s second store will open in the Windy City’s Old Town neighborhood on Wells Street, taking the space formerly occupied by Plum Market. For a third store, the emerging grocer is reportedly eyeing the bustling Fulton Market neighborhood.

If finalized, the store will be on the ground floor of 917 W. Fulton St., a 530,000-square-foot office and retail development that has yet to break ground, according to various reports.

In October, Block Club Chicago reported that Dom’s is “very close” to finalizing a lease for the third location, which would span 22,000 square feet with an emphasis on food service and open in 2024. Dom’s declined to offer further information on the deal when the Path Purchase Institute reached out.

The emerging chain is reportedly on track with its plans to grow its store footprint to 15 stores by 2025.
