What a (Retail Media) Week That Was

The week of Feb. 3 is one that we'll talk about with pride, as months of hard work came to fruition with the release of two retail media research reports.

Every week is an important week for the Path to Purchase Institute and its editors. In everything we produce — from our daily news coverage to member content to special reports and beyond — we are committed to serving the needs of brand marketers, retailers, agencies and solution providers in our evolving world of commerce marketing.

But the week of Feb. 3, that was a week. One that we'll talk about with pride, as months of hard work came to fruition with the release of two retail media research reports.

  • On Feb. 4, we published our Trends Report, sponsored by TransUnion, which features ratings of major retailer media networks and much more.
  • On Feb. 6, in collaboration with Skai, we presented the “State of Retail Media,” which focuses on such topics as defining incrementality and data clean room usage as well as exploring new partnerships with non-retailer media networks.

Both reports have become annual projects that take months to produce, starting with a topic/question brainstorming session in early fall that’s followed by B2B surveys that spend up to two months in the field. Then, months of analysis and production.

Much of the credit goes to our in-house retail media expert Cyndi Loza, whose byline adorns both reports. Equally important is our research team here at EnsembleIQ, particularly Beth Brickel and Heather Franceschini. Special thanks to our sponsors that help shape the reports from start to finish. And credit for the beautiful, visual end result goes to our BrandLab team, specifically Ali Zipes and Tim Hedrich.

Many more helping hands contribute to the project as well. It’s without a doubt a team effort.

We hope you enjoy the content. If you are interested in retail media, they are must-reads. Simply put, they provide a depth of information that’s not available elsewhere.

These reports set the table for a plethora of retail media offerings to come in 2025, including ...

  • Keep your eye out for Canadian shopper research that will be first presented next week at Retail Media Summit Canada.
  • Then, of course, we’ll introduce a bunch of fresh content as part of our larger Retail Media Summit, May 6-8 in Rosemont, Illinois.

Display Producers, Listen Up

P2PI editors have put out a call for submissions to be included in our latest P-O-P Showcase. It’s a chance for P-O-P producers to showcase their best work.

Here are two examples of previous P-O-P display roundups:

For this next P-O-P Showcase to be published in March, we need submissions of best-in-class activations at retail. The submission deadline is Feb. 28.

P-O-P companies, please submit a high quality photograph of one or two recent product displays you are most proud of for editorial consideration.

We need:

  • a quality image — not simply a blurry screen shot pulled from the internet.
  • a 50- to 100-word description for each submission that includes information about the display, the campaign, the participating brands, any partnering retailer, and the P-O-P display producer.

We accept submissions from the U.S. and beyond. For any international displays, please include the activation market when submitting the description.

Please send submissions to me at tbinder@ensembleiq.com.
