99 Ranch Market Brings Experiential Asian Grocery Format to New York
West Coast-based 99 Ranch Market is entering New York City with a two-story, 37,000-square-foot flagship in the Flushing neighborhood of Queens that opens July 25.
Located at 3711 Main St., the store marks the 64th location nationally for the Asian grocery chain, owned by Tawa Supermarket, and introduces a format that blends traditional supermarket staples with experiential in-store services and a food hall component. The store adds to 99 Ranch’s growing footprint across 11 states.
The Store Experience
Spanning 22,000 square feet, the main market floor will offer a broad assortment of more than 10,000 SKUs, with a focus on Asian produce, frozen foods, pantry staples, premium meats and live seafood, according to a media release.
The location focuses on service-forward amenities, including:
- Complimentary fish frying and live seafood steaming (e.g., lobster and crab).
- Self-checkout stations.
- Members-only promotions through its 99 Ranch Super Rewards program, which gives shoppers 1% back in points on qualifying purchases.
- Free parking for customers that spend at least $99.
The location is also designed with wide aisles, natural light and modern finishes, aiming to elevate the grocery shopping experience in a traditionally high-traffic neighborhood, per the release.
Forthcoming Food Court
Opening in a later phase is a 15,000-square-foot “Eat Up” food court, housed in the store’s lower level. The food hall is set to feature 23 vendors serving a wide variety of cuisines — including dim sum, Taiwanese street food, sushi, pho and boba tea — and will also include arcade-style claw machines.
While many grocers have added hot food stations or in-store dining, 99 Ranch’s approach positions the Flushing location as more of a culinary destination than a conventional supermarket.
"This is more than a supermarket, it's a cultural hub and culinary playground," Alice Chen, CEO of Tawa Supermarket, said in the release. "We designed our Flushing store to reflect the energy of New York while staying true to the values that have made 99 Ranch a trusted name in Asian communities for over 40 years."
Store Opening Celebration
The Flushing store will host a media and influencer preview on July 18, followed by a grand opening celebration on July 25, which will include a traditional lion dance, exclusive perks, and giveaways, among other festivities.
99 Ranch will also partner with Flushing BID, a local nonprofit, to invest in the local community.
