Beauty brand Olay, owned by Procter & Gamble, has added generative AI and predictive modeling capabilities to its 10-year-old Skin Advisor platform.

While the digital tool has allowed consumers to generate an automated, personalized skincare routine, the upgraded version can simulate how their recommended skincare routine is expected to perform or change over a 4- to 8-week period based on clinical data.

The company is working with Haut.AI, using a virtual companion experience to first analyze the skin, match each consumer to an AI-generated skin profile and then map their progress with suggested Olay products in a simulated, controlled environment.

The initial scan detects any skin concerns — such as wrinkles, pigmentation or texture — and develops a "before" image that best matches the user. The tool then provides personalized insights such as ingredient benefits, along with the recommended skincare routine.

The multistep AI draws from a dataset of more than 10,000 AI-generated face profiles representing a wide array of ages and facial features.

Mike Jutt, VP of R&D for Olay, said the updated technology brings expertise into the digital space, using models build on decades of clinical research to help illustrate the impact of skincare ingredients.
