Smart & Final Builds Out In-Store Media Network Through Quad Partnership

Grocery retailer Chedraui USA is expanding its in-store retail media capabilities through an expanded partnership with Quad that will deploy digital screens across 25 Smart & Final stores this fall.
Quad will provide an integrated solution that includes content, technology, production and store execution, according to the company, and the rollout is expected to help brands reach shoppers through relevant content and engage with them at the point of purchase.
Matt Reeve, SVP of sales, marketing and merchandising at Chedraui USA, said in a statement that the platform will improve the experience for shoppers and vendor partners while supporting the retailer’s longer-term marketing evolution.
“Across our communities, Smart & Final plays an important role in connecting households and businesses with the brands they love most,” he noted.
Based in California, Smart & Final has a value-oriented, warehouse-style store format. The company was acquired by Chedraui USA in 2021.
Quad also partners with Smart & Final for print and production support for its weekly circular programs.

Target Appoints Former Hilton Exec as CMO

Target named Mark Weinstein chief marketing and guest experience officer this week.
Weinstein will report directly to CEO Michael Fiddelke. He joins Target from Hilton, where he served as global CMO for all 28 hotel brands and the hospitality company's Hilton Honors loyalty and rewards program, and head of luxury brands.
At Target, Weinstein will play a critical role in the company's growth strategy, elevating how consumers experience and connect with the Target brand.
"Deepening how we know and engage our [shoppers] will be critical to our success," said Fiddelke. "Mark has a proven ability to understand what consumers value and turn those insights into brand connections that feel relevant and personal. His leadership will help us elevate the [shopper] experience across every interaction with Target, deepening existing relationships, welcoming new [shoppers] and driving continued growth."
In his role, Weinstein will work to shape a more connected experience across all the ways people engage with the retailer, from discovery and shopping to how Target shows up in culture and communities. He will also oversee Target's retailer media network Roundel, and Target+, the mass merchant's highly curated marketplace.
"Target is an iconic brand with the rare ability to be both deeply familiar and continually surprising," said Weinstein. "I'm excited to join Michael and the team as Target charts its next chapter and build on that incredible foundation in fresh, distinct and more connected ways. We have an enormous opportunity to bring the brand to life across every interaction with consumers, creating experiences that feel unmistakably Target while giving people new reasons to engage with, choose and prefer us."

Lars Djuvik Named CRO of Surfside

Advertising operating system Surfside has named Lars Djuvik its chief revenue officer.
Djuvik joins Surfside as the company expands the infrastructure it built in cannabis and alcohol into grocery, convenience and other retail channels.
The company describes the retail majority as the thousands of independent, specialty and regional retailers that account for the majority of consumer spending.
As CRO, Djuvik will lead Surfside's revenue organization across both sides of that network: Expanding partnerships with retailers while scaling the demand organization serving agencies, suppliers and advertisers.
Djuvik brings more than 25 years of experience across advertising, commerce and retail media. He most recently held leadership roles at Crealytics and Pentaleap, the retail media technology company launched by Crealytics. Djuvik also held leadership positions at Interactive Media Holdings (which became the publicly traded demand-side platform Viant) and Freeosk.
Surfside built its platform in two of the most heavily regulated categories: Cannabis and alcohol. Its technology connects on-site, off-site and in-store media activation with transaction data and measurement at the source. This allows retailers and brands to evaluate performance against point-of-sale outcomes while retailers retain ownership of their shopper and transaction data.
The company has been extending that infrastructure to regional grocers, convenience stores, liquor retailers, gas stations, specialty retailers and other businesses that have often been excluded from retail media because of fragmented point-of-sale systems, loyalty programs and data environments.
Djuvik was also a P2PI Retail Media Award winner this year.

Adam Skinner Named CEO of Onescreen

Out-of-home advertising partner Onescreen has named Adam Skinner its chief executive officer.
Skinner brings 15 years of infrastructure-building expertise to the role. Most recently, he served as managing director of retail media at Epsilon. Prior to that, as CTO and COO of CitrusAd, Skinner helped scale the platform from serving under 10 clients to more than 150 retailers across 30-plus countries before its acquisition by Publicis Groupe's Epsilon.
Skinner, who has helped launch more than 150 global media networks, sits on several IAB committees. In 2026, he was presented with a P2PI Retail Media Award.
Skinner steps into his role at a key inflection point in the industry. While U.S. retail media spend is forecast to reach $69.3 billion this year (per Emarketer), OOH generated a record $9.5 billion in 2025. However, OOH remains bottlenecked by manual transactions and fragmented networks. Onescreen is capitalizing on this shift, posting 68% year-over-year revenue growth in the first quarter of 2026.
At Onescreen, Skinner will focus on scaling the company's modern performance infrastructure to make real-world OOH inventory easily plannable, buyable and accountable for enterprise performance budgets.
"Out-of-home has better inventory than retail media every had, but it has lacked that connective infrastructure," Skinner said. "What drew me to Onescreen is that the hard part is already done. ... Extending that into retail and commerce media, right as the standards arrive and the budgets line up behind them, is the most interesting problem in media today."
Skinner succeeds Alex Ewing.
Adam Skinner spoke to P2PI as part of its Retail Media Unplugged series, where he discussed agentic commerce and the new in-store reality. View the video here.

Big Happy Brings Independent Verified CPM to Digital Out of Home

Adtech platform Big Happy is bringing independent verification to its digital out of home (DOOH) campaigns.
Through a partnership with Veridooh, Big Happy can use independently verified delivery data and offer a verified CPM (vCPM) option for DOOH campaigns in the U.S.
Advertisers can now choose between a standard CPM or premium vCPM pricing, paying only for plays and impressions independently verified as valid.
As part of the partnership, Big Happy will also have full access to Veridooh's programmatic DOOH product suite, including verification, collaborate, insights and intelligence. The suite gives Big Happy an independent data layer across campaign planning, activation and measurement, extending beyond post-campaign reporting.
As DOOH takes on a larger role in digital media plans, programmatic buyers increasingly expect independent verification to be available across other channels.
Veridooh provides Big Happy and its clients visibility into valid and invalid plays and impressions, helping them protect their investment in 3D creative, reduce waste and improve in-flight and future campaigns.

Topsort Advances Commerce Media Infrastructure for Luxury Goods

Topsort is partnering with online marketplace 1stDibs to support commerce media for high-quality goods.
Traditional retail media infrastructure was largely built around high-volume retail environments with standardized catalogs and transactional shopping behavior. In contrast, premium marketplaces require monetization systems that can support nuanced discovery experiences, differentiated inventory and highly intentional buyer behavior.
The company 1stDibs connects shoppers with a global network of sellers spanning vintage furniture, contemporary design, fine art, jewelry, fashion and collectibles.
As 1stDibs scales its marketplace and investing in the evolution of the shopping experience, it sought a more flexible and scalable monetization structure capable of supporting long-term growth without compromising the premium customer environment.
For Topsort, the partnership reinforces the broader expansion of commerce media beyond traditional retail categories into more specialized marketplace environments like luxury commerce, where discovery, differentiation and buyer intent are increasingly shaping how monetization is built and scaled.
