ShopRite Opens 'State-of-the-Art' Store in Staten Island
ShopRite opened its newest "state-of-the-art" supermarket on Sept. 14, at Evergreen Plaza, 100 Greaves Lane, in Staten Island, New York, with a special ribbon-cutting ceremony, the retailer announced in a media release.
Owned and operated by Staten Island-based Mannix Family Markets, the 62,000-square-foot ShopRite of Evergreen Plaza in the Great Kills community is the company’s fourth supermarket in the borough. The store offers a full range of groceries, chef-prepared foods, and specialty and premium items.
The new location carries more than 40,000 store- and national-brand products and features nearly 3,000 weekly sale items, along with an extensive selection of gluten-free and organic offerings at ShopRite’s everyday low prices.
Key departments include a fresh bake shop offering custom specialty cakes and made-from-scratch breads and sweets, a floral shop with daily-arranged bouquets, a meat department staffed by experienced butchers, a seafood department with daily-catch deliveries, and a produce department featuring organic and locally grown fruits and vegetables.
ShopRite’s online shopping service, Order.Pickup.Deliver., is available at the store, along with the banner’s premium store brands: Bowl & Basket, Wholesome Pantry, and Paperbird.
“Our team looks forward to delivering the very best in quality, value, and service to the Great Kills community with our newest ShopRite,” Tim Mannix, second-generation grocer and VP of Mannix Family Markets, said in a media release. “Staten Island has embraced us, and we are proud to continue investing in the borough and neighborhoods that mean so much to our family.”
Mannix Family Markets also operates ShopRite stores in Staten Island’s Graniteville, New Dorp, and Charleston communities. The Evergreen Plaza store employs around 300 associates and incorporates energy-saving and sustainable technologies in refrigeration and lighting, including LED lighting and environmentally friendly refrigerant systems.
The Mannix family supports local organizations year-round, including food pantries, the St. George Theater, Grace Foundation of Staten Island, Richmond University Medical Center, the Staten Island Children’s Museum, and Staten Island Sunrise Day Camp.
ShopRite of Evergreen Plaza is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Keasbey, New Jersey-based Wakefern Food Corp., the nation’s largest retailer-owned cooperative, comprises nearly 50 members that independently own and operate supermarkets under the ShopRite, Price Rite Marketplace, The Fresh Grocer, Dearborn Market, Gourmet Garage, Fairway Market, and Di Bruno Bros. banners.
