  • Game Boy Color Counter Unit

    Frank Mayer & Associates Inc.
    Nintendo of America Inc.
Comments: Sears, Babbages and Electronic Boutique are among the retailers using this display to introduce the new Color Game Boy to the marketplace. The incorporation of illumination in the powder-coated metal display serves to further highlight the game's color capabilities and animated graphics. A specially designed game cartridge can be used to demonstrate the variety of new games available, while other cartridges allow consumers to play an actual game.

Gillette de Mexico SA de CV
Comments: With the display, the client acquired a presence in the store that it didn't previously have and, by doing that, increased sales of all products. Because of the display's small size, the negotiations for space were easy and it was cost-effective because of the amount of product it could hold.

  • Gears! Sound & Motion Display

Comments: This display had to provide both a visual and voice demonstration of a new motorized version of the toy. The key was to give enough information about the toy so that customers wouldn't feel compelled to open packages. The model is displayed in a protective case that shows the movement of gears and accessories. This display helped increase sales of the Gears product line by 150%. What's more, 250 new stores took on a Gears display for the first time.

The "Get a Mini Backpack" promotion added an element of cuteness to the unit that helped it appeal to its young girl market. The unit cost of the display, generally 10% of the retail value of the books, was only 6%. The display (1,800 units) sold through immediately.
