NACDS Names Michael Wysong President and CEO
The National Association of Chain Drug Stores (NACDS) has chosen Michael R. Wysong to serve as its next president and CEO.
Wysong, the current CEO of CARE Pharmacies, will succeed Steven C. Anderson on Dec. 1. Anderson is retiring after leading the Arlington, Virginia-based trade association for two decades. His retirement is effective Dec. 31.
Wysong brings more than three decades of healthcare and retail pharmacy experience to his new role. As a past chair of NACDS and a current member of the board of directors and the executive committee, Wysong has shown an enduring dedication to the organization.
The nationwide search for Anderson's replacement was a competitive one. "We were not looking for someone who needed the industry explained to them," NACDS Chair David B. Warner, president and CEO of KPH Healthcare Services, explained in a media release. "We were looking for a leader who can hit the ground running, and who brings diverse perspectives to the role — an understanding of the pharmacy, the boardroom, the supplier relationships, the importance of our allies, and the needs of patients. In Mike Wysong, we found exactly that."
NACDS represents traditional drug stores, supermarkets and mass merchants with pharmacies, supplier partners and international members.
