Lowe's Rolls Out AI Tool to Support In-Store Associates
Lowe's has launched an artificial intelligence-powered tool to enhance customer service and expedite associate onboarding across its more than 1,700 stores.
The new app, called Mylow Companion, was developed for associates’ sales floor devices. It provides quick access to product information, project guidance and real-time inventory data to help employees better support customers in the aisle.
This rollout follows the March debut of Mylow, the home improvement retailer’s AI-powered, customer-facing virtual adviser. Lowe’s said in a media release that Mylow Companion was built on the same foundational AI model and marks the company’s first wide-scale implementation of an AI assistant for internal use.

Mylow Companion uses generative AI to enhance associates’ ability to provide knowledgeable support — even outside their primary areas of expertise. Associates can engage with the tool using natural language queries (e.g., “What kind of fertilizer works best for Bermuda grass?” or “How can I fix a leaky faucet?”), and the app also supports voice-to-text for faster, hands-free operation.
"Mylow Companion is another example of Lowe's living out its commitment to elevate the customer and associate experience," Seemantini Godbole, Lowe's chief digital and information officer, said in the release. "Whether associates have been on the job for five weeks or five years, they can be confident they're delivering expert-level advice and assistance, and customers can trust they're getting the best service and experience of any retailer."
Like Mylow, Mylow Companion was also developed in collaboration with OpenAI and leverages Lowe's expertise. The company said it plans to continue enhancing both tools, rolling out new capabilities and refining the functionality based on real-time, in-app feedback.
"Through our collaboration with Lowe's, AI is making it faster and easier for their associates to help customers find exactly what they need for their most important projects," added Brad Lightcap, chief operating officer at OpenAI. "We're excited to support Lowe's transformation of retail by merging their industry-leading expertise in home improvement with our advanced AI capabilities."
