Aldi
The discount retailer officially entered its 40th state, cutting the ribbon to its Portland, Maine store.
Walmart
The mass merchant continues to add digital shelf labels, with plans to bring them chainwide throughout the U.S. in the next year. The labels not only help speed up the process of making price adjustments, but they also help associates identify SKUs that need replenishment and to swiftly fulfill online orders.

BJ's Wholesale Club
The warehouse chain reported its 2025 earnings. Its membership fee income soared 9.5% to $499.8 million, up from 2024's $456.5 million.
Dollar General
In addition to reporting strong sales for 2025, the discount retailer revealed plans to introduce a new store format, open approximately 450 stores and remodel 2,000. It also teased piloting a subscription program.
Kroger
Kroger shared 2025 results and revealed plans for 2026, which include entering into two new markets — Jacksonville and Kansas City — and updating its rewards program. It also expects its e-commerce arm to turn a profit this year.
Petco
The pet retailer plans to add more fresh food, bring in national brands and continue its focus on store brands. It's also introducing a new category, Gardening with Your Pet, that includes pet-friendly products and plants.
