Top 'Retail Media' Stories from July
A number of retailers, brands and commerce marketing entities announced retail media-related advancements, research and other news in July. Some notable headlines included:
- Sam’s Club Member Access Platform (MAP) introduced display ads for Scan & Go. The ads, which refresh after each new product scan, are now available in all clubs for select members and will roll out to 100% of in-club traffic over the coming weeks.
- Lowe’s expanded in-store media with audio ads. Marketers can now buy and launch targeted, programmatic audio ads across the retailer’s locations through Lowe’s One Roof Media Network.
- Northeast Grocery debuted retailer media network. Shopper Link digital media network will power offsite and onsite media for nearly 300 supermarkets throughout New York, Massachusetts, Vermont, Connecticut, Pennsylvania and New Hampshire.
- Best Buy and DoorDash grew off-site retail media capabilities. The companies are testing ad technology from a self-serve platform that provides marketers with first-party data and engages consumers across digital media walled gardens, including TikTok, Meta and Google.
- Moloco released published its 2024 "Consumer Perceptions of Ads on Streamers Survey.” Overall, the results signal a tipping point in consumer consumption habits as they shift from traditional TV to streaming platforms.

- Swiftly modernized circular ads for digital. The technology provider's "Audience Optimizer" solutions replace retailers' traditional paper ads with targeted and personalized online ads.
- CoolerX launched a self-service in-store platform. The retail media solution puts CoolerX’s AI-powered technology directly into retailers’ hands to optimize media and merchandising strategies.
- Research from UK’s Co-op measured ad impact at other retailers. Among the findings, a retail media campaign from a global beer brand generated a sales lift of 12% in Co-op stores and drove a 3% lift at surrounding stores.
- Criteo promoted key executives. Brian Gleason, Ryan Damon and Connor McGogney were promoted to new or expanded roles as Criteo looks to further cement its place in the retail media realm.
