Pinterest in February unveiled the latest edition of Pinterest Academy, which offers interactive e-learning courses that help advertisers engage and inspire their target audiences on the platform.

As a discovery platform, Pinterest offers brands a glimpse into emerging trends and provides a peek into what their consumers are looking to buy. More than 400 million people around the world use the platform each month to discover new ideas, according to a global analysis from Pinterest conducted during the third quarter of 2022.

[Users are] coming during key life stages and moments, which provides brands, advertisers and agencies with the unique opportunity to connect with them when it matters most,” according to a recent news release from the company.

Pinterest Academy courses provide guidance on the range of ad formats and on-platform tools available to advertisers as well as how to use measurement tools and a deep dive into specialty subjects, such as how to use the Trends tool, which provides a historic view of the top search terms across different regions and countries.

Designed for brands, agencies and advertisers (both new and seasoned), the academy provides instructions and tips that apply across the campaign process and helps “students” tap into new audiences across Pinterest.

According to Pinterest internal data based on English searches from April 2020, 97% of the top searches on the platform were unbranded, meaning Pinners tend not to add a brand name when searching. Pinterest says this gives businesses of all sizes an equal opportunity to meet Pinners early in their decision making journey.

“We created Pinterest Academy to help brands, agencies and marketers alike harness the unique intent and buying power of people on Pinterest and understand how to unlock the full potential of their campaigns on the platform,” Stacy Malone, head of global business marketing at Pinterest, said in the release. “Only on Pinterest do people come with the clear intention of discovering the things that add value to their real lives, so they welcome content from brands that help them do just that."

Pinterest Academy originally launched in 2019. The latest edition provides fresh strategies and enhanced content, with twice as many courses available than before. As of Feb. 13, the academy offers 14 courses comprising 30-some short lessons.

Pinterest Academy courses are available globally in English. Options in additional languages will be available later this year, including British English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Portuguese and Spanish.
