Thanksgiving Shopping Trends
Quality, flavor and price are the three most important factors for those purchasing Thanksgiving essentials, according to Breaktime Media.
Breaktime surveyed shoppers to find out how they’re celebrating the November holiday, including their favorite side dishes and preferred retailers to shop. Grocery stores are the most-frequented Thanksgiving shopping destination, with 65% of respondents choosing that channel. Coming in second place was Walmart with 20% and club stores at 10%.
Stuffing is the most popular side dish at 35%, followed by mashed potatoes at 28%. Pies account for nearly two-thirds of preferred holiday deserts, with 42% picking pumpkin pie as their most favorite.
There was no dominant drink choice among the surveyed shoppers. Wine accounted for 24% of selections, then water at 23% and soda at 22%.
Here are some ways brands can engage and educate Thanksgiving shoppers while driving sales:
- Help shoppers discover their ideal side dish using a personality quiz to make personalized recipe recommendations.
- Inspire purchase through festive recipes showcasing your brand’s products.
- Promote the perfect dinner bundle shoppers can purchase using Breaktime’s built-in add-to-cart feature to move sales and highlight multiple products.
- Spread the holiday cheer by encouraging shoppers to share their best Thanksgiving day spreads through a social giveaway.
