Crayola celebrated “National Crayon Day” on March 31 and the brand’s 120th anniversary by launching its “Million Crayon Giveaway,” which runs through May.

The giveaway is held at the brand’s five Crayola Experience locations in the U.S.  in Easton, PennsylvaniaOrlando, Florida.Bloomington, Minnesota (Mall of America); Plano, Texas; and Chandler, Arizona.

To celebrate the micro-holiday, Crayola invited children and families to customize their own 32-count crayon boxes by filling them with their favorite colors from a 40-foot-long “Pick Your Pack” wall at the Crayola Experience stores.

To help promote messages of “kindness and positivity,” Crayola Experience has added five crayons from the brand's special-edition “Color of Kindness” collection to the 74 different crayon colors merchandised on the dedicated wall, according to a media release. The specialty crayons include: “Be Sweet to Each Other,” “You're So A-Peeling,” “Kind to the Core,” “Rise Above,” and “Spread Your Wings.”

To participate in the in-store event/giveaway, consumers are required to register via the Crayola Experience website. They will then receive a voucher, while supplies last, for their selected location and time to pick up and customize their free crayon box.

"The first Crayola box of crayons sold in 1903, and 120 years later opening a box of Crayola crayons continues to unleash the imagination and provide unlimited possibilities for creative expression, just like visiting Crayola Experience," Warren SchorrCrayola senior vice president, business development, global licensing and experiences, said in the release.

"Celebrating National Crayon Day and the Crayola crayon's 120th birthday is the perfect time to colorfully inspire happy thoughts, encourage positive interactions, and motivate acts of kindness and compassion," Schorr added.
