Next month, Aldi is opening up a unique sampling experience dedicated to the charcuterie trend ahead of the holidays in Chicago.

Aldi’s first “Charcuterie Chalet” will be open to the public Dec. 4-5 at an event space often used for weddings called Loft on Lake, 1366 W. Lake Street, in Chicago’s Fulton Market neighborhood. The discount grocer is introducing the sampling experience to provide consumers with holiday inspiration, bringing together a curated selection of more than 300 cheeses, meats, wines and snacks for guests to try, buy and recreate at home, according to a media release.

Inside the Charcuterie Chalet, Aldi describes a “cozy, ski lodge” vibe with “wall-to-wall” charcuterie. The featured offerings include a slew of edible creations, such as:

  • The Aldi $50 Board, containing “gourmet” and premium meats, cheeses and other fixings.
  • The Chalet Board, an entirely edible gingerbread-like cheese board.
  • A Holiday Sweater Board.
  • A Windy City Board inspired by the Chicago skyline with an assortment of cheeses, meats and fruits.
  • Charcuterie Drink Toppers made of mini boards of elegant varieties that pair well with Chianti.
  • A Sweets Board, containing assortments of Aldi’s “best” holiday treats, including brand-new European cookies hitting shelves in mid-December.
  • The Aldi Fresh Board, featuring a selection of fresh strawberries, raspberries, mangos, pineapple, peppers, carrots and tomatoes forming the Aldi logo.

The chalet experience will also include an interactive photobooth and a spot to personalize and engrave gifts.

Beginning Nov. 19, consumers can snag a free ticket to the chalet by RSVP-ing via Eventbrite: ALDICharcuterieChalet.eventbrite.com. Space is limited, and tickets are available on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Additionally, Aldi’s DoorDash page is detailing the full list of offerings for shoppers not in the Chicago area. DoorDash shoppers can also get $10 off their Aldi purchase of $40 or more throughout December.

"No matter if shoppers are charcuterie connoisseurs or just looking for budget-friendly ways to impress guests, our holiday food assortment of over 300 items will make hosts the talk of any holiday party (in a good way!)," Kim Brazington, Aldi certified cheese expert, said in the release. "We understand the stress associated with holiday hosting – and that includes the expenses. That's why the Charcuterie Chalet was born: to show customers that they don't need to overspend to throw a great party – or finally win over the in-laws."
