Infographic: The Fourth of July Shopper
Just over half of shopper survey respondents indicated that food and beverages are must-have items for their Fourth of July celebration, according to Breaktime Media.
Breaktime surveyed shoppers to find out how they're celebrating the holiday – from what they’re shopping to what they're grilling.
Shoppers turn to grocery stores for their July 4 necessities the most, with 40% selecting grocers. Coming in second place was Walmart at 28%, and club and dollar stores were tied for third at 9% each.
When purchasing food items, cost is the factor most important to shoppers. Of those surveyed, 32% selected cost while 25% selected flavor.
The most popular food item was hamburgers at 41%, followed by hot dogs, bratwurst and sausages at 14%. Nearly a third of the survey respondents selected potato salad as the most popular side dish.
The top five drink items were soda, iced tea, water, beer and lemonade.
Here are some ways brands can engage and educate shoppers while driving sales during Fourth of July preparations:
- Use a list to provide shoppers with red, white and blue recipe inspiration using your brand's products for their holiday barbecue.
- Help shoppers plan the perfect Fourth of July party using a personality quiz to recommend ideas incorporating some of your brand's products.
- Implement Breaktime's built-in “add-to-cart” feature to encourage shoppers to place an order that includes your brand's SKUs for a special Fourth of July bundle.
- Create sparkling moments with your brand through a custom performance-based promotion themed around the holiday, such as a contest that encourages UGC uploads.
